Description

Lilah Morris-Wiseman, M.D., F.A.C.S., is an endocrine surgeon who serves as Chief of the Division of Endocrine Surgery.  She is an Associate Professor of Surgery and Oncology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where she serves as Vice Chair of Education in the Department of Surgery and Surgical Director of the Johns Hopkins Comprehensive Adrenal Center. Dr. Morris-Wiseman trained at UCLA and completed her surgical endocrinology fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center. She has a high-volume endocrine surgery practice with particular expertise in minimally invasive techniques, hereditary endocrine genetic diseases, and complex and reoperative surgery of the thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands. Her clinical philosophy centers on patient-centered shared decision-making, excellent communication, and multidisciplinary collaboration, ensuring that each patient's surgical care is individualized and informed. She holds a Focused Practice Designation in Adult Complex Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgery and has recently been elected as a Director of the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Morris-Wiseman is recognized nationally as a leader in endocrine surgery and surgical education. She is an Associate Member of the American College of Surgeons' Academy of Master Surgeon Educators, an honor recognizing premier leaders who have devoted their careers to surgical education. She serves as Chair of the Patient Advocacy Committee of the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons (AAES), where she organizes patient education initiatives on thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal disease in partnership with national patient advocacy organizations. She has contributed to multiple national clinical practice guidelines, including the AAES Guidelines for Adrenalectomy, the AJCC 8th Edition thyroid cancer staging guidelines, and the 2026 American Thyroid Association Guidelines for Thyroid Disease in Preconception, Pregnancy, and Postpartum. Dr. Morris-Wiseman holds leadership roles in the AAES, the American Thyroid Association, and the American Board of Surgery. She serves on the editorial boards of the Surgical Council on Resident Education and Frontiers in Endocrinology and is a peer reviewer for multiple journals. She has published more than 60 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters spanning endocrine surgery, surgical education, and health equity. She is currently pursuing a Master of Education in the Health Professions at Johns Hopkins and is principal investigator on a funded study developing interactive video-based learning tools to accelerate surgical resident training.
