Dr. Rohan Mathur is a neurologist and neurocritical care physician at Johns Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. He cares for patients with severe neurological and neurosurgical emergencies, including stroke, brain injury, brain swelling, coma, and disorders of consciousness. He is also a physician-scientist focused on improving how acute brain injuries are monitored, diagnosed, and treated. His research centers on intracranial pressure, coma, and recovery of consciousness. He helps lead a multidisciplinary team developing advanced monitoring technologies and AI-based tools to support bedside decision-making for critically ill patients. Dr. Mathur’s work is grounded in compassionate, patient-centered care. He has helped bring music therapy and narrative-based care into the ICU, ensuring that care reflects not only clinical data, but also each patient’s values, goals, and lived experience. He is a dedicated educator and mentor, serving as faculty for the Neurocritical Care Fellowship and the Osler Attending Preceptor Program. He has received numerous awards for clinical excellence, teaching, research, and humanistic care, reflecting his commitment to advancing the field while training the next generation of physicians and advanced practice providers. Dr. Mathur earned his medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University. He completed a residency in Neurology and a fellowship in Neurocritical Care from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
